I was comparing them based on seemingly impossible porting. Nice of you to be smart and pleasant to the opinions of others. I've never played NMS anywhere else before (but have been observing it on other platforms) and didn't expect it to be perfect, but more than forty hours later I can say that its merits more than make up for its shortcomings.Īll that said comparing NMS to Hogwarts is stupid as its different games and engines. It reviewed well enough here and SwitchUp to convince me to give it a go. I suppose it depends on your prior experience with it, and with video games in general. Its missing key features, the downgraded graphics are too much of a hit, the framerate is rough and its even missing smaller things as well. Wed 14th Dec No Man's Sky is not good on Switch and i've stopped playing that version because of how lackluster the port has proving to be.Asia/Oceania: 3am JST / 2am AWST / 5am AEDTĭuring the presentation, we'll get to see new footage of broom flight, traversal options, a deeper look at the game's magical combat, and "an introduction to the Room of Requirement".North America: 10am PST / 11am MST / 12pm CST / 1pm EST.We'll be getting more wizarding world news very soon, as Avalanche Software is planning a Gameplay Showcase tomorrow, 14th December, at the below times: The team is looking forward to bringing you the game and we want to deliver the best possible game experience across all platforms.- Hogwarts Legacy December 13, 2022 This news was confirmed by the official Hogwarts Legacy account on Twitter: Hogwarts Legacy will launch on Apfor PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and on Jfor Nintendo Switch. The PS4 and Xbox One versions have now been delayed, meaning that the game will be getting a staggered release schedule throughout next year. This is the first time the Switch version has been given a date after other console versions were confirmed for 10th February 2023. The hybrid console's version of the game will be the last version of the game to launch, after the PS4 and Xbox One versions release on 4th April next year. and Avalanche Software's huge action RPG Hogwarts Legacy - based on the Harry Potter series - finally secures a release date on Switch of 25th July 2023. If a delay does indeed need to happen, it would likely be announced during the summer or fall to allow the developers as much time as possible to make sure Hogwarts Legacy is ready for launch.Image: Warner Bros. It was originally delayed from 2021 to 2022 and the world is as unpredictable as ever in today’s times. Though Harry Potter fans will look forward to the holiday season even more so now, there still remains a possibility the game could be delayed. This is generally considered to be the holiday season that developers refer to when providing a release date for a game. The most likely release window for the game appears to be November-December. September isn’t necessarily considered to be in the “Holiday” season, however, so it seems that rumor might be squashed. Previously, leaks indicated that Hogwarts Legacy was releasing in September of 2022 to accompany a companion book about the making of the game. While this doesn’t give fans an exact date, it does bolster hope that the game will still release this year. The official release date, as of right now, for Hogwarts Legacy is “Holiday 2022.” This is what it says on the Hogwarts Legacy website FAQ, which is as official as fans are going to get at this point in time. As I said, the album hits hard several times, but it's far too inconsistent to be as grand as its concepts, both musically and lyrically, would make it out to be. It all makes for a pensive eye of the storm that combines the album's characteristics and its best features, the most prominent one being its profound impact. Afterward, the guitar drones on for an absurd length while a piano's keys are hammered ever so lightly. The aptly titled "Earthmover," dances around drones and piano notes while drums and guitars again support the song with interesting rhythms and melodies, as well as an exciting climax. The album's highlight is found on this half of the album, as well. Here's where the drums and the guitars are used to make distorted yet eerily pretty compositions rather than nihilistic pieces of black metal. Here, they are misanthropic.Įventually the band stops representing the malevolent ways of Antiochus's followers in their music and they go into a more electronic-driven sect. Distortion sounds messy and boisterous, and it is usually here where the band culminates their influences that they come across as a truly artistic and interesting outfit rather than some artsy-fartsy, middle-class black metal project. Lo-fi production techniques cause oscillating tones to appear in the background and the reverberations to become amniotic throbs. Beside them lay the drum kit - digitalized and frenetic. When black metal sections come around, guitars lurch and grind in the distance until they reach ear-splitting crescendoes. Luckily, the album rarely plods along (which is essential because the tracks are generally very long) still, the album is inconsistent.įortunately that means that Deathconsciousness does hit. Still, on other tracks the combination of an excessive amount of boring drones and an obnoxious over usage of the hill-and-valley effect comes across as obnoxious. "The Big Gloom," on the other hand, is a moving piece of shoegaze-tinged black metal regardless of its flaws. Pensive epics like "A Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Connecticut" have the potential to be dazzling, but they unfortunately continue on with tired ideas for too long for the song to retain the sprawling, dark feel that it sets forth. Much of the time, songs are unnecessarily long, which unfortunately takes away from some of the album's emotional impact. Simply put, the structural tendencies of Deathconsciousness are inept. This is, of course, expected when the album is such a genre-mash - specifically hybridizing black metal, drone, shoegaze, post-industrial, and post-rock characteristics - however, Have a Nice Life's vision is unarguably out-there - for better or worse. As a whole, Deathconsciousness throws any and all conventions out to sea. If you were to guess and say that the compositional style is just as long-winded and odd as the concept, then again, you'd be right. So, if you were to guess that the musical aspects are just as pretentious and grandiose as the concept, you'd be right. It's hard to follow, immense (the band compiled their findings into a seventy-five page booklet that comes with the album), and it seems to influence every aspect about Deathconsciousness. The concept alone is jarring and austere. See, Antiochus was a man who often riled up excuses for people to be persecuted for religious reasons, as well as persuading people to commit murder and suicide and follow odd, convoluted customs. Furthermore, its connections between this lore and life lessons throughout have been equally acclaimed, and of course, they're just as complex as the figures dealings it was based off of. It's been fawned over for its lyrics that double as an extensive analysis of medieval Italian heretics - more specifically its outlining of the life and times of Antiochus, a nearly unknown writer and religious figure. Not quite.Ĭonceptually, at least, Have a Nice Life's Deathconsciousness may be the most disarming album I've ever come across. Review Summary: You are alone in this wintry Hell of a place. Drew from Buffalo, NyThis song is so powerful and moving.I wholeheartedly disagree in fact, this has got to be one of the most epic songs I've ever listened to, maybe besides "A Saucerful of Secrets." I love the experimentation with the symphony the brass section makes for a wonderful melody.Īll in all, great song for those looking for something different. Harry from South Bend, InI once heard that Atom Heart Mother was the worst album by Pink Floyd, that it was a true embarrassment to their career.Years later, Kubrick refused Roger Waters permission to use audio samples from his film 2001: A Space Odyssey on Waters' solo album Amused to Death. It can be seen on a shelf in the music shop scene. Kubrick did, however, include the album cover in the film. Ironically, Stanley Kubrick wanted to use this track for his film "A Clockwork Orange" however, the band refused permission. Airy, MdYeah this song is a perfect song for a movie. Probably my favorite drum track to any song ever. The drums and bass go together so well in this song. Google search it non-pink floyd fans who don't know what that is. Perhaps it is too short? I hear "The Unknown Song" in this. I don't ever want to hear a bad thing about the song. It was one of the first albums to sound TOTALLY different than their previous one. This is coming from probably the biggest Floyd fan I can think of. Seth from Foster, RiThis song is amazing. The keyboard solo at the beginning (without that cello solo) is AMAZING, it really moves me. Giselle from Buenos Aires, ArgentinaThe Live at KQED version is awesome. No one has mentioned the amazing bass trombone rips in this. Bob from Tarlton, OhThis is an absolutely genius piece of music. However trying to find information on it today is like picking hens teeth. I read later on that there were 5 different productions of this album that were released. Warren from CanadaSeveral years ago a friend of mine and me both had the Atom Heart Mother album (vinyl) but the the production on his album had a drier sound as opposed to mine which had a more echoy wet sound. One camp is not superior over the other, it’s just your personal taste on the subject. There are some that love this to death & many who just will never like it. To be kind it’s an acquired taste, even among us Floyd fans. You don’t there without “Meddle” but no so with “Atom Heart Mother”. The next album to follow “Meddle” now that was the jam! That was the transitional album when Floyd started writing/producing more cohesive stuff & the leap from there to “Dark Side of the Moon” & all their later stuff. This album represented the end of Floyd’s bizarre experimental psychedelic phase. That one I really like & even “Fat Old Sun” is kinda ok too. The only song that I like here is of course already advertised as being “The most accessible” song on the album is “Summer ‘68”. Waters was asked what it would take to re-do this again & he basically said to “F*k off!” That he’d never do it for any kind of money. Just never could get into it, heck even the band themselves said that it was awful. Anthony from New York, NyActually this is my least liked Floyd album & to date, the only one that I never owned. All you have to do is download the Universal USB Installer from Pen Drive Linux. If you have access to a Windows machine, the process of creating a live USB is extremely easy. In addition, you will also need a copy of the latest version of Ubuntu, which can be downloaded from Ubuntu's official download page. To create this bootable USB drive, also known as a live USB, you will need access to a USB drive with at least 2 GB of storage and a functioning computer, but it does not matter if it is a Mac or Windows. In this guide, I'm going to show you how to create a USB drive that contains all of the necessary files to boot your Windows PC or Mac into Ubuntu. While it's pretty impressive that a root vegetable can handle an entire operating system, it won't help you get your computer up and running. Since it's based off of Linux, it has the ability to boot on pretty much anything, from a USB drive to a potato. It is currently the most popular Linux distribution and has a dedicated community that's actively working to make it smoother, faster, and more secure. Ubuntu doesn't get a lot of love compared to powerhouses like Windows and Mac OS X, but those who do use it are often fans for life. If you've ever wiped your computer without having a proper backup of your operating system, or just wanted to cause some havoc online, chances are you've had to rely on Linux to help you out, specifically the Ubuntu distro. Further, the use of PCLB and TJLB may have substantial variation in histologic yield.Įndoscopic US guided LB (EUS-LB) is a sampling technique that has surfaced as an effective alternative to traditional methods of obtaining liver tissue both for focal and parenchymal disease. The most common complications include hemorrhage and pain. Major complications following LB are rare, occurring at a rate of approximately 1%, while mortality rates occur at 0.2%. However, there are procedure-related risks including mortality related to traditional methods of acquiring liver tissue. Less commonly, a surgeon may perform a LB during laparoscopy/laparotomy. In cases in which this approach is contraindicated or unavailable, a fluoroscopy guided transjugular (TJ) approach may be employed, which may be combined with measurement of hemodynamics in the portal system. Conventionally, LBs have primarily been performed through the computed tomography (CT) or ultrasound (US) guided percutaneous (PC) route. There are several approaches available to acquire a LB. Without tissue acquisition, nearly one-third of cases of liver cirrhosis can be overlooked in patients presenting with abnormal liver tests and absent diagnostic serology, though the widespread availability and non-invasive nature of fibro -elastography has helped reduce the need for biopsies. Though patient history, clinical exam, imaging and laboratory tests including serology aid in the initial diagnosis of liver disorders, histological analysis continues to play an essential role in discovering the etiology and magnitude of liver disease, especially when preliminary, less invasive methods of evaluation are inconclusive. Liver biopsy (LB) provides essential clinical information regarding diagnosis, prognosis, evaluation and management of various diseases of the liver. Since then, the role and technique of tissue sampling has evolved tremendously. Needle biopsy of the liver was first performed by Dr. Herein, we provide a review of the recent evidence of EUS-LB for liver disease. These advantages have contributed to the increased use of EUS-LB as a technique for obtaining liver tissue. Compared to PC and TJ routes, EUS-LB may also have a greater diagnostic yield of tissue, be superior for a targeted approach of focal lesions, provide higher quality images and allow for greater patient comfort. More recently, endoscopic ultrasound guided LB (EUS-LB) has evolved as an alternative method of tissue sampling that has proven to be safe and effective, with limited adverse events. Additionally, PCLB and TJLB carry higher risks of adverse events and complications. However, traditional methods of LB may be inferior to newer methods. Traditionally, methods of acquiring liver tissue have included percutaneous LB (PCLB), transjugular LB (TJLB) or biopsy taken surgically via laparotomy or laparoscopy. Indications for LB include evaluation of persistent elevation of liver chemistries of unclear etiology, diagnosis of chronic liver diseases such as Wilson's disease, autoimmune hepatitis, small duct primary sclerosing cholangitis, work up of fever of unknown origin, amyloidosis and more. As such, histopathological results are critical as they establish or aid in diagnosis, provide information on prognosis, and guide the appropriate selection of medical therapy for patients. Make sure you follow the instructions on the packet or ask your pharmacist.Liver biopsy (LB) is an essential tool in diagnosing, evaluating and managing various diseases of the liver. The local anaesthetic will wear off after 2 hours after which you will be advised to take some paracetamol. Your doctor will tell you if you need any follow-up tests. The tissue removed during the biopsy is then checked for abnormalities. Your doctor will then remove some skin from your cervix using a suction tool Following this, your doctor will numb the area either by spray, or by injection. Your doctor will insert a speculum into your vagina in order to clean your cervix. A biopsy is a fairly quick procedure, taking only about 20 minutes to perform.ĭuring the procedure, you will be asked to lie on the examination table with your feet resting in stirrups, much like you would during a smear. The eight observatories that created the Event Horizon Telescope He studied a radio astronomy technique called Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), where several telescopes, located thousands of miles apart, simultaneously observe the same celestial object to emulate a telescope as large as the distance between them. Sheperd Doeleman is an astrophysicist at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian. While that won’t happen anytime soon, or ever, one scientist envisioned a hack. To get a high enough resolution and see whether that donut is glazed or custard-filled, would require a telescope the size of the Earth. The magnifying power of a telescope is limited by the size of its dish. Yet looking at either of these objects through a telescope is much like trying to photograph a donut on the moon. Measuring 24 billion miles across and six and a half billion times the mass of our sun (what?), it is one of the largest known black holes. There are also gargantuan black holes, like the one in the Messier 87 galaxy. A cosmic spitting distance of 26,000 light-years from Earth, it would take a space probe, like Voyager 1, more than 400 million years to get there. The nearest supermassive black hole is Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), which resides at the galactic center of the Milky Way. The real problem with imaging black holes isn’t just their blackness or their glow. A black hole has never actually been seen. And scientists have calculated that one should be able to see the terrifying border where photons still orbit the black hole and the point where nothing can escape it: the event horizon.īut that’s theory. Paradoxically, black holes are also some of the most luminous objects in the sky. And as matter turbulently rubs against itself, it heats to billions of degrees and glows. All that hot gas and stardust trying to squeeze into a dense point create a lot of friction. There are other clues to locating a black hole. For example, the black hole at the center of our galaxy makes its surrounding stars look like bacteria in a petri dish. Over the years, astrophysicists and mathematicians have found Nobel-prize-worthy ways to detect black holes by looking at how they govern star orbits around them. Yet scientists are never too impressed by the impossible. With everything pulled into their gravitational field, they don’t emit anything our instruments can detect. Space photography has come a long way, but black holes are invisible to the human eye. They may be superabundant, but they’re not easy to find. Yet 100 years after Einstein’s groundbreaking theory, astronomers estimate there are more than 40 quintillion (yes, that’s 40,000,000,000,000,000,000) black holes in the observable universe. Objects infinitely dense, like squeezing the mass of the Earth into the size of a coin.Įven Einstein, whose general theory of relativity predicted the existence of black holes, found the idea so radical and improbable that he was doubtful black holes existed. It’s hard to wrap our heads around the concept of black holes. So bizarre, time may come to its abrupt end inside. Like an infinite well of gravity, they are a region of spacetime where so much mass condenses into such a tiny space that gravity overcomes all known forces. Black holes: hurly-burly engines in our universe It is an age where Moore’s Law, machine learning, and eventually quantum computers may uncover one of the universe’s weirdest and most enigmatic objects. Just as fuzzy, but no less seminal, these two images are part of a black hole golden age. Just a few months ago, that same team released a much anticipated second image of the black hole at the center of our galaxy. It is an illustration of what we think black holes look like, based on mathematical theory and fairly recent evidence that black holes exist.Īll of this changed in 2019 when a team of scientists used a decades-old astronomy technique, remarkable global collaboration, and advancements in data storage and computing technology to create the first-ever image of a black hole. Since 2015, Western Digital has been supporting the Event Horizon Telescope, a groundbreaking virtual telescope observing and imaging black holes.Īlmost every image we’ve seen of a black hole isn’t an image at all.
